To mark the album’s 50th anniversary, Chicago teamed up with sound engineer Tim Jessup to remix the entire album. Chicago Transit Authority (50th Anniversary Remix) released on CD and double LP on 180g vinyl
Originally published on April 28, 1969, Chicago Transit Authority entered the US charts, reached double platinum and received a Grammy nomination as “Best New Artist”. The work also achieved the rare unique selling proposition of being in the US charts for a full three years (171 weeks) – a new record at the time
The timeless double album contains some of the band’s most memorable hits: “Beginnings”, “Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?” and “Questions 67 and 68”. It also contains the unmistakable guitar playing of Terry Kath, who died in 1978, on “South California Purple”, “Free Form Guitar” and a glittering cover of “I’m A Man”.
