Brand new album by the all-rounder from Marseille. After his worldbeat success ‘Soleil Kreyol’, WALTERS surprises with an acoustic-analog line-up with top-class colleagues BALLAKE SISSOKO (Kora), ROGER RASPAIL (percussion) and VINCENT SEGAL (cello). Beguiling Creole chamber folk as CD in digipack and gatefold double LP on HEAVENLY SWEETNESS. Known in France as a TV journalist, producer and musician, DAVID WALTERS was also able to inspire critics and music fans in Germany with his last Afrobeat-heavy album ‘Soleil Kreyol’. On this, the cellist VINCENT SEGAL took part in the title track, who had previously worked successfully with the Malian Kora master BALLAKE SISSOKO.
With ROGER RASPAIL and his Gwo-Ka hand drums, another music legend from Guadeloupe is added to support WALTERS ‘acoustic guitar and his warm falsetto singing. On ‘Nocturne’, four outstanding musical individuals gather around a room microphone – the eleven songs were recorded as first takes without headphones or overdubs and sound incredibly present and intimate. The singer’s Afro-Caribbean roots transcend here into Creole chamber chanson, connecting Africa, France and the Caribbean in a completely new way. Almost a stroke of luck that DAVID WALTERS could not start the tour for his last album as usual – the world might have escaped ‘Nocturne’! Beautiful artwork by comic artist BRÜNO.
