The San Francisco Quartet, founded in 2001 by violinist and composer Jeremy Cohen, is characterized by its agility and virtuoso playing. Cohen studied with Itzhak Perlman and Anne Crowden, he played as a soloist with various orchestras, was concertmaster for recordings by Linda Ronstadt, Ray Charles, Aaron Neville and can be heard on Santana’s Supernatural. His Quartet San Francisco received three Grammy nominations and consists of four crossover specialists who have mastered many styles from jazz to tango, pop to funk, blues to bluegrass and of course classical. On A QSF Journey you invite you to take part in a journey into the chamber music of the 21st century.

The twelve tracks on the album include nine tracks written or arranged by Cohen. Seven are world premieres, three more are world premieres in string quartet form. The recording was captured in natural audiophile sound by Reference Recordings’ own award-winning engineering team: Keith O. Johnson and Sean Royce Martin.
